The finding
Tinder's panic-button partner in the US is Noonlight. Noonlight's own help page says its emergency response features do not work outside the United States. So a Vancouver product cannot copy that setup.
The research looked for a Canadian substitute. Life360 offers SOS with 24/7 emergency dispatch in five countries, Canada included. It is sold to Life360's own paid members as part of a consumer plan. Its help page describes no API or partner route for another app.
The research concluded that, in Canada, the workable path is do-it-yourself: tools that send a member's plan to people they trust and put 911 one tap away.
Why it mattered to the design
Peoplarium's safety tools are free and run by the member. Share Plan sends the time and place of a meetup to the member's trusted contacts. It shares the other person's details only with that person's consent. Trusted contacts can get an SMS alert. One tap calls 911 with the address already filled in.
Check-ins go to trusted contacts, never to the platform. A platform that monitors meetups takes on a duty to act that a solo founder cannot staff. Product copy never suggests that Peoplarium sends help.
How it was checked
AI research agents compared Canadian safety options. We opened the primary sources. Noonlight's help article, dated July 2022 and still live, confirms it is US-only. Life360's support article confirms dispatch in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand for paid members, and mentions no API. The consent requirement for Share Plan was a gap the research missed; it was added in the plan review under Canadian privacy law.
