Stranger dinners already run in Vancouver

Vancouver already has stranger-dinner clubs: Timeleft lists it among six Canadian cities, and Well Fed seats quiz-matched tables of six. The gap is not dinners but verified members who pick their own intent and keep meeting.

As of September 2026 · Peoplarium is a Digi117 venture in development.

What the first answer said: Meetable runs Thursday dinners of six in Vancouver, and 222 appears absent from the city. The pilot budget used a per-check ID verification price.

What checking found: Meetable's site lists no Canadian city. 222's Vancouver status is still unconfirmed; the public review names only US cities. No public source was found for the verification price.

The finding

The research asked how Peoplarium should launch in Vancouver. The first answer: the city is not short of stranger dinners. Timeleft lists Vancouver among its six Canadian cities. Well Fed Social Club runs dinners in Downtown, Kitsilano and Mount Pleasant, and seats strangers at tables of six matched by a quiz.

So the gap is not "no dinners". It is verified members who say what they are looking for, friends or dating, and who keep meeting after the first table. The research also recommended invite links in the style of Partiful, where every guest who opens a link becomes a possible sign-up.

It then proposed an eight-week pilot run by paid table hosts, paid only for tables where guests showed up.

Why it mattered to the design

Peoplarium kept Vancouver and kept invite links. It dropped the paid-host pilot. A platform that pays hosts, picks venues and seats strangers is running the meetup itself, and the current plan says Peoplarium must not rely on people it runs.

The launch is now an invite-only waitlist across the whole city. Each verified member gets a few invites. Plans with open seats travel as links that non-members can open. Hubs, chat and voice speed-meets keep the product useful before the city is dense. The cost of this choice is slower density, and the plan accepts it.

How it was checked

AI research agents wrote the launch plan. We then opened the primary sources. Timeleft's site lists Vancouver. Well Fed's site lists Vancouver and the three neighborhoods. Meetable, named as a Vancouver competitor, lists no Canadian city, so that claim was corrected. A 222 review names New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta only, so 222's absence from Vancouver stays unconfirmed. The pilot's verification cost had no public source, which no longer matters because the pilot was cut.
