The finding
The research compared fifteen growth loops used by consumer social apps from 2023 to 2026 and ranked them for a verified meetup platform launching in one city. Event invite links came first. The mechanism is simple: a host sends a link, guests open it to RSVP, and each event recruits people who were not users yet.
Partiful is the clearest case. It reported about 500,000 monthly active users in the first quarter of 2025, roughly 400% more than a year earlier, and added about 2 million new users in the first half of 2025. Google named it best app of 2024. Stranger dinners and paid host seeding ranked second and third. Paid social advertising ranked last.
Why it mattered to the design
Peoplarium adopted the link and dropped the organizer. Any plan a member makes, such as Friday climbing or a board-game night, can offer one to three open seats to verified strangers, and the plan is shared as a link that non-members can open. Launch is an invite-only waitlist in which each verified member gets a few invites. The research's second and third loops were cut: the platform does not compose groups of strangers or pay hosts, because it provides tools and must not rely on people it runs. Active organizers can earn free Plus, never cash.
How it was checked
AI research agents collected the loops and figures from marketing teardowns and industry guides. The Partiful user figures were checked against the NoGood teardown the research cited, and they matched. They are company-reported figures passed on by a secondary source, not audited data. Google's best-app award was confirmed in TechCrunch's November 2024 report. A viral-coefficient target the research quoted came from a vendor guide and is not used here.
