Why voice, not video
Video-first social products have a poor survival record, and public video roulette ended in a shutdown. Voice is lower pressure, cheaper to moderate and still personal. Video arrives in Phase 2, blurred until both people accept.
What replaced the first plan
The first design used a separate video vendor. The current stack keeps voice on the same platform as everything else.
What it talks to
- Member web app: The installable web app members use to verify, build a profile, find hubs and plans, chat, join voice speed-meets and use the safety tools.
- Chat and rooms: Keeps live state for one-to-one and group chats, plan rooms and the voice speed-meet queue: who is in, whose turn, how long is left.
- Moderation pipeline: Classifies messages, photos, voice and reports, applies written rules through an action ladder, sends reasons and routes appeals.
Designed for
- Verified members only
- Voice before video; video comes later and only by consent
- Live moderation tuned for dating conversation, not gaming
