Data Scientist

Digi117 is looking for an energetic data scientist to help us apply the most innovative techniques and approaches to evaluate different sets of data, discover valuable insights, and maximize benefits of output for social impact client reporting deliverables.  Your focus will be in applying data architecture and mining techniques, statistical analysis, and building high quality input/output measurement and prediction systems.

You will be working closely with our clients and internal teams to prepare complex data models that fully measure impact.  When working with Digi117 you will be inspired by new intellectual challenges on a daily basis, self-motivated and driven to solve complex data quantification problems that positively impact companies and their communities, while continuously developing your professional knowledge and skill sets.


  • Establishing data collection procedures for building analytic systems

  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying integrity of data used for analysis

  • Data mining using battle-tested methods

  • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

  • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance

  • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.

  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.

  • Experience with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, or Pig

  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

  • Good scripting and programming skills such as R or Python
